BIOGRAPHY

Chile is known for having the driest desert in the world, the Atacama Desert. The Tiawanaku culture had several outposts in Chile, one at San Pedro de Atacama and the other at Arica Chile, near the border with Peru. Beautifully carved wooden snuff tablets were uncovered at San Pedero De Atacama.  In Arica, trapezoidal shaped ponchos were found as well as the earliest mummies from the Chinchoro culture, circa 8,000BC. The Inca occupied Chile for a period of only 70 years.
